My a cappella story...

When I was tasked with playing the role of Oliver Hix in the Music Man (part of the barbershop quartet) at the age of 12, I really found my passion for a cappella singing. It was 1995, and the local high school was collaborating with the surrounding elementary and intermediate schools to produce one BIG musical for the district. Just hoping to make it into the show as one of the teen townsfolk, I was thrilled when I was cast in the barbershop quartet. As the resident junior higher in this group of high school seniors, I beamed with pride as we navigated the rehearsal process. The tight harmonies and fantastic chord suspensions in the music we were singing gave me a sense of joy that I truly hadn't experienced before. I discovered that magical phenomenon that happens when multiple voices lock in perfect harmony; it rings. I became addicted.

Over the years as an a cappella vocalist, I have had the great privilege to perform with some of the best musicians in the industry. I've sung for celebrities, for diplomats, at all of the major southern California theme parks, and at prestigious events of all kinds! I've been featured on reality competition TV shows, done media events for major corporations, and have been featured in adverts and promotional materials for the top entertainment companies.

When I look back at all of these exciting experiences that I've been lucky enough to take part in, I just think: "Oliver Hix would be proud!"
